Survey Design

A variety of different aspects need to be taken into consideration when determining the best practices for survey research. A significant amount of planning needs to take place in order for the research to be most effective. Determining who will be the sample, how the surveys will be administered and how the surveys will be analyzed are all important factors when trying to accomplish the most out of a study. Additionally, the questionnaire needs to be properly designed for the intended sample. Lastly, a very important part of survey research is analyzing the results that have come from the survey research. When doing survey research it is vital that when sharing or publishing results, nothing is hidden and the researcher is as transparent about the true results as possible. In the study at hand, the research question is: In what ways does the implementation of family fun activities affect family involvement? The survey question that is being used to operationalize the dependent variable is: How involved was your family throughout the activity. The survey question that is being used to operationalize the independent variable: What is your race/ethnicity? These are good/well written questions due to the fact that they are simple but still get significantly relevant information to the study.
