This class served as the biggest academic challenge for me throughout my first semester. After receiving a 25% on my first map quiz, I was overwhelmed and wholeheartedly believed that I would fail the class, thus losing my Honors status. I immediately sought help from Dr. Munson, who helped me learn the most effective note-taking strategies for the class and gave me advice on how to study for the map quizzes. I also visited a tutor 1-2 times each week. She helped me understand more complex historical events by breaking them down into simpler terminology. Though I did not always enjoy the material covered in this class, I am thankful for the experience because it helped me learn study skills that would prove useful in all of my other courses. Attached, you can find a paper I wrote about the inherent misogyny found in Homerian literature and its profound effects on Athenian and Spartan societies.
