As someone who hated gym class from kindergarten through senior year of high school, I was not terribly enthused about taking what I thought would be a collegiate version of that. Fortunately, this class changed my life for the better. Having to get 10,000 steps per day to achieve full marks gave me the motivation to take fitness seriously and stay active throughout each day, even if I couldn’t actually make it to the gym. I also began making dietary changes to improve my overall nutrition, which helped me feel holistically better. Finally, I made time each morning to go to the gym before class or work, even if it meant losing an hour or two of sleep.
Every two weeks, we were required to turn in a log of our activity with reflections. Attached below is one such assignment. These helped me stay on track throughout the course and think more deeply about my fitness journey.
