Legacies of Frankenstein

Having never read Frankenstein prior to the start of this course, I was very excited for an opportunity to do so under the instruction of various experts from the English & Modern Languages department. This team-taught course allowed me to build relationships with English professors I had not taken courses with and strengthen my rapport with professors I already knew. Additionally, discussing literature with non-English majors provided a variety of unique perspectives. Through studying for detailed reading quizzes, I improved my comprehension skills, which will contribute to my continued success as an English major. The most fascinating portion of the course was our study of unlikely “legacies” of Frankenstein. For my seminar paper, I wrote about Mrs. Doubtfire, Misery, and Watchmen as carrying on Mary Shelley’s messages. I’ve attached part of the paper below as the entire piece was too large for this site.
