Overall these assignments have helped me improve my technical and professional writing skills . All the assignments challenged me to be creative, collaborative , and grammatically correct. These assignments have opened my eyes to accessing different types of research and I really enjoyed it . I never saw myself creating business logos, creating professional documents, or presenting Ted talks. English 470 is wonderful class that prepares you for different professional elements . Rather it be writing a resume or CV , editing a piece of writing , or presenting material .
This class helped me refresh the following skills , how to creatively design business templates or logos ,properly include parallelism, team work , and copy editing . In the beginning of the course, I was writing with multiple “word salad” sentences . For example , I was inserting multiple prepositional phrases (to, at, that, of , to be , unto). After taking this class and effectively editing these professional documents I was able to seek that flaw within my writing .
My future goal is to become a successful attorney and I signed up to take this class to improve my writing skills . With in law, writing in concise and plain English for clientele is extremely important . I want any communication that my clients receive to be straightforward and comprehensive. While writing briefs, I will constantly be thinking about concise and grammatically correct writing. I aspire to own my own law firm one day and thinking about the importance of marketing through a website for our final report was eye-opening for me as well .
I have gained further knowledge on how to appropriately write and edit professional correspondence, design professional logos and documents, and organize research appropriately. I have also sharpened my ability to strengthen personable skills and my leadership skills within collaborative assignments . I was able to do this by delegating tasks among the group and allowing each member to have autonomy by choosing which tasks they wanted to perform.
I plan to harness all of these transferable skills and continue to strengthen them in order to use them in my future profession and future organizations. I plan to keep them in mind as well when I attend law school or when I volunteer for the Chesterfield Food-bank . For my tasks involve communicating with families about volunteer opportunities , food distributions , and properly writing community service letters .
