Survey Design

My research question is: Can activities encourage family/parent involvement? with the hypothesis that if parents enjoy the activities provided, then they are more likely to participate and become involved with their children. The survey question I am choosing to use to operationalize for the dependent variable deals with the parent involvement and is: How much were you involved in your child’s activity? For the independent variable I will use the survey question: How many hours a week do you work outside of the home? Both of these would be beneficial because they relate to my literary research that goes in to description on how outside work such as employment affects the level of involvement a parent will have with their children. I also think they are good questions because they are not double barreled, they have short answers that are not biased or negative, and they are relevant to the class project.
