To teach children about decimals and rounding decimals, we use MIPS, a method of math instruction through slides that includes vocabulary concepts, the usage of base-10 blocks, manipulatives, number lines, word problem scenarios, charts, and other information and activities. MIPS is crucial to me because it gives me advice on how to teach rounding decimals to my students, detailed instructions on how to complete various exercises, and models base 10 blocks so that my students, whether in a small group or a huge class, properly comprehend the subject. Also, MIPS are crucial because they provide me with information on typical student mistakes and help me deconstruct problems for students who could be having difficulties with place value, digits, word problems, or rounding in general. In addition, for my students, JITs are used as a crucial resource because it gives them the chance to practice problems based on our topic, which involves rounding to the closest whole.
