Community

I grew up in a place called Stanardsville; this is a small town in Virginia. Growing up within this small town had both positives and negatives, but the one thing I loved the most about being from a small town is having a community that cares about everyone. Having a tight nit community is very important to me because everyone is so supportive and always willing to help; it also makes it seem like everyone is part of one family. When I first moved to Farmville I was concerned that I would lose this family like connection because being at Longwood would be a new start, but I was worried for no reason. The Cormier Honors members reminded me of this tight family like community. The staff, students, and everyone involved with the honors program are so supportive and willing to give a helping hand at anytime.

Since I am on the softball team at Longwood, I am surrounded by athletes everyday. The honors program has allowed me to venture out of my comfort zone and meet new people that might not share the same hobbies as I do. I have gained new friends, and people that I now consider my family because of the Cormier Honors College.

Having a community like the honors college at Longwood is so special because it allows extra support with not only academics but life in general. I am very blessed to be a part of it!
