This was my first ever philosophy course and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Within the realm of philosophy, this course was centered around economic systems, specifically capitalism, socialism and distributism. Throughout the duration of this course we read many philosophical texts focused on these topics.
While the material was challenging at times, I still enjoyed learning about it and feel as though I am much more informed on these economic systems. I believe this knowledge is useful because in order to be an informed citizen understanding economic systems is crucial.
Not only was the information useful for any student, I also learned something else from this course. We had many discussions during class time. Pretty much every class we would talk about the assigned reading and our thoughts on the economic system within the reading. I enjoyed being able to collaborate with my classmates and to hear other peoples opinions. After class I would always leave having a much greater understanding than when I first entered. This course reminded me of the importance of collaboration and being open minded. These are skills required for basically any career so I am glad I got more exposure to them during this course.
Below is my final annotated bibliography I made for this course. I had to find different scholarly sources regarding the economic systems we discussed throughout the semester. I then had to mention some these sources during a conversation with my professor in which I argued the superiority of one of the systems.
