I took this course Fall of 2016.

I was enrolled in this class as an incoming first semester freshman to fulfill my Goal 2 requirement. This class offered more than I imagined for my first college english course. Dr. Gordon Van Ness pushed me in ways I didn’t know were possible. My writing skills were greatly improved as well as my reading and studying skills.

We explored many different works of American Literature, and at times, this class almost felt more like a History class than an English class. It was very interesting to make the connection between the History portion of the class to the literature we studied.
