- Students will register themselves and will identify which school or organization they are affiliated with.
- Students should have a teacher or school representative that registers within Ideal Logic as a point of contact.
- Registration does not guarantee a presentation at the Virginia Regional Symposium. Student presenters will be selected in the week following the close of registration.
- Students may be invited to present an oral presentation in competition for the JSHS awards or a poster presentation for local awards.
Students must submit an electronic version of their abstract (up to 250 words), research paper, and the JSHS Statement of Outside Assistance 2023-2024_Fillable form when they register on or before February 2nd, 2024, both documents must be in pdf format. Students can start registration before having these documents since the registration will save your progress but cannot submit the registration until these items are completed. These items will be used to determine whether students are invited to present an oral presentation or a poster presentation at the Regional Symposium. These invitations will go out by February 9th.
The format and guidelines for the abstract and research paper must adhere to the National JSHS Rules of Competition.
If you are travelling more than 100 miles and require lodging for our regional competition
- We have funds to help support lodging for students and chaperones travelling more than 100 miles, but the national JSHS rules require pairing of students from similar schools and disallows housing of parents/guests. If you have been invited to present at our regional meeting and are in need of housing then please contact the Regional Director at yeagleyaa@longwood.edu.
February 2nd, 2024 – Registration deadline
- All attendees (students, teachers, judges and guests) must register through Ideal Logic.
- Students now register themselves within the Ideal Logic system and simply list their school/organization that they attend.
- We ask that each school register at least one teacher that can act as a point of contact for students that have registered. This can be a parent in the case of home schooled students.
February 9th, 2024 – Presentation Invites will be sent out via Ideal Logic
- Student presenters will receive an email from the Ideal Logic system that will invite them to our Regional Competition.
- Please add the Ideal Logic email to your recognized sender list to avoid these invites being sent to your spam folders. Teachers, we will attempt to follow up with the registered teacher for each school to ensure contact is made with student presenters.
