Why I Chose Leadership Studies
From the day you open your acceptance letter to Longwood University, you are hit with this idea about becoming a ‘Citizen Leader.’ The school talks highly on how this is a school where students turn into leaders, and they are completely right. When I decided to change out of education, I realized that one of the biggest things holding me back from being confident, was that I felt that I wasn’t a strong enough leader. Now yes, I have held many different leadership positions in organizations, but it wasn’t the same. I just personally felt like something was missing, and I picked up Leadership Studies to help me try to find it. My main goal was to figure out what I wanted to do, and once I started to gain confidence in myself as a leader, I was going to find what I wanted to do for my life. I have recently discovered that I have a huge interest in event planning, and I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
Course I’ve Taken
I’ve taken many courses at Longwood, considering the fact that I switched up my future goals a couple of time. But recently, I have been taking classes that have really helped me find what I want to do in the future. Below is a list of the courses I have taken while at Longwood that have helped me figure out my future goals. While some of them might not relate to the others, the courses all relate somehow to me when becoming an event planner.
- LDST 120- Foundations of Leadership
- PSYC 101- Introduction to Psychology
- EDUC 204- Project Success
- EDUC 376- Introduction to Residential Life
- ENGL 382- Grammar: Theory and Practice
