Grammars, Languages, and Automata was a class highlighted how important it is to seek out help if you need it. While I was performing amazingly well during the initial part of the semester, when Coronavirus hit, and in person classes were shut down, my performance began to worsen in the class. I found that I needed to talk to my professors, and my peers a lot more when I was trying to learn the new material for this class. At first, it was tough for me to be able to seek out that help. I didn’t want to be perceived either as some sort of burden, or to be seen as “behind” my classmates. Being seen as that one person who is always struggling, and really shouldn’t belong in this class. Eventually I had to just bite the bullet, and ask for help. Contrary to my worrying mind, nothing like that happened. I got the help I needed, and managed to get back on track with the course material. I learned that it’s okay to ask for help, and that asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness. Instead, asking for help is a sign that you know your drawbacks, and are willing to work on them.
