I originally took Intro to Math and Game Theory in order to fulfill on of my perspectives requirements. What I did not expect to happen was to add on an additional math minor because of this class. I found that while the material was challenging, I was incredibly interested in it, and found that I had a growing interest in math and particular. I knew that a math minor would be a very attractive attribute in the future after my graduation, but I was worried about the extra workload and stress that it would bring, so I never really considered it. During my time in game theory however, I saw my interest in math grow larger and larger as the semester waged on, and begun to ask my professors in math and computer science about the viability of a math minor, what classes they would recommend, and other such things. In the end, I ended up taking the math minor on. Beyond just the usual material for the class that I learned, I think this class taught me to never be afraid of taking a chance. I’ve had a shaky history with math in the past, and this combined with my lack of passion in math led me to leave it in the back of my mind as an option. Game theory is what led me to take the chance and add the math minor. You only get one life, you may as well take a chance and take all of the opportunities you are given.
