Correspondence

Located below are my Bad News Letter and Persuasive Letter. These letters allowed me to achieve learning outcomes 1 through 4. Bad News Letters are commonly used in the professional world in order to settle customer complaints on a positive note. Persuasive letters can be used by citizens in order to achieve something needed in their community.  In order to craft the most well written letters, I had to use plain English. Plain English is writing in a way that is simple and easy to read and understand. The components of plain English are: clear, concise, concrete, complete, courteous, coherent, constructive, and correct. These criteria are known as the 8 C’s. When writing these letters, I had to create pertinent details in order to form letters that created a purpose for their composition. Furthermore, from these documents I learned how to use block format which is a common format used in professional writing. Before taking this professional writing class, I had never used block letter format. Now, I am able to use it for any document.
