Formal Report

Formal reports are used in the professional world for several reasons. Some of these reasons include offering a business proposal, suggesting a course of action plan, and offering a comparative analysis. In my professional writing course, our assignment was to pretend my team was a consulting firm who had been asked to review a certain type of company or business. I, being a communication sciences and disorders major, suggested that my team evaluate skilled nursing facilities. Our goal was to analyze and critique three skilled nursing facility websites in order to offer suggestions and recommendations to Clear Water Skilled Nursing Facility, an imaginary new business, for their new website.  Not only did this project take over a month to complete, it also allowed me to achieve every learning goal for this course. This project was very time consuming because everything had to be precise, mistake free, and formatted correctly. Our team had to conduct research on different skilled nursing facility websites to choose the best ones for our formal report. When making the analysis we included graphics from each website so the reader could view the subject we were discussing. During the last days of class we also had to present our formal report to the class. Our goal in that presentation was to summarize the formal report thoroughly by explaining our analysis of each website, conclusions, and recommendations for Clear Water. Continuously, this was another group project that took lots of time, energy, and dedication. This was the longest I have worked with a group on one assignment. However, we were able to give our presentation successfully and turn in our formal report hours before the due date.
