Scholarship, Community, & Service

Scholarship:

I’ve received Dean’s List every semester, and recently received President’s List during both semester of 2020. I declared a minor and a concentration taking on more credits to challenge myself further academically. I have received scholarships for my academics, and have always been a leader in my major and classes.

Community:

I joined a social sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, to become a better woman and more involved person in general. I also got accepted to be a Peer Mentor which has been so rewarding and humbling throughout my experience of spreading my love for Longwood. I am the Vice President of Order of Omega, which has furthered my leadership skills greatly and gotten me connected with many different Greek individuals in my community. Mortar Board has allowed me to give back to my community by putting on Oktoberfest, as well as being a member of Alpha Lambda Delta. Being the Special Events Coordinator for the Senior Class Council has allowed me to get in touch with other members of the community and branch out. Being a senator on Student Government Association and representing my fellow Lancers was a great privilege; I really got to know more about the Farmville community and give back to others. Campus Election Engagement Project hired me as a campus fellow, where I got the opportunity to spread my love for voting and passion for voter engagement with the entire Longwood community by putting on events during the past election. I feel as if my time at Longwood has made me a huge contributor to my community, and a citizen leader all around. I have been commended by Chi, which was an extreme honor for me. I also like to get involved in my community, through participating in events such as Spring Weekend or other Longwood sponsored activities.

Service:

Community service is an important aspect in my life. I have participated in Relay For Life, Kicks For Kids, donated money and my time to the Ronald McDonald House in Richmond, donated to and participated in many marches/revolutions for equality, and the Big Event on campus. It is very rewarding to see my hard work and time affect our own community and places so close to home. My favorite aspect of service was being accepted to the Alternative Breaks trip in Portland, Oregon. There, I spent a week doing service for the community, which involved building a house, feeding the homeless, packaging clothes for children less fortunate than me, and being completely out of my comfort zone. That trip taught me so much about myself as a person and my passions, and I never would have gotten the opportunity if it wasn’t for Longwood University.
