This course was probably the most interesting course I took all freshman year.  It was interesting because we would discuss many controversial topics and big social issues and it allowed me learn different perspectives and ideas on a certain topic.  I have never been the type of person to keep up with the news or the media so this course helped me grow as a citizen and learn where i stand on some issues and what I need to learn more about.  It assured me that even though people may have different ideas on the same topic, it doesn’t mean one is right or wrong, better or worse, it just means that everyone is different and sees the world in another way.

In this class, all of the students had a topic assigned to them about a major social issue and had to present the pros and cons and a solution.  My topic was drug abuse so I made a power point on prescription drug abuse and new systems that can be put into place to reduce this.
