Our final assignment of the semester was to create a formal report that analyzed four different hotel websites in order for us to consult a startup company on how to design their site. This was the biggest project of the semester and definitely the most challenging, but in the end it was the most rewarding. It was a culmination of all the professional writing skills we learned throughout the semester. We demonstrated our ability to perform every course outcome and were able to prove everything we have learned throughout the semester. Throughout the whole process, I learned a lot about not only how to effectively create a formal report, but how to work effectively in a group. This project was large and required a pretty big time commitment, so it was crucial to delegate tasks and have deadlines within our group to ensure that everything was completed in a timely manner. We had weekly meetings at the same time and place, which was really helpful when it came to planning our agendas for the week.
We faced a few challenges throughout the project, including how to properly format everything and deciding on which three factors we wanted to analyze for each website. But, we were able to overcome them and create a final product that we were all proud of. For me, this was the most valuable project in this course. I was able to put all the course objectives to work and really learn a lot about professional writing tactics.
