Professional ProfileĀ

My name is Hanna Schenkelberg and I am a senior at Longwood University. I am a Communication Sciences and Disorders major with a minor in Special Education. I will complete my undergraduate degree in May 2019, then I plan to attend graduate school and obtain a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. I am a current member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and I am also a Longwood Ambassador. I also am employed by the admissions office at Longwood University as a student worker.

I have been shadowing a speech therapist for several years over school breaks and summers. I have been interested in the field of speech therapy since high school and am excited to continue my studies in the field on my way to becoming an experienced professional. I enjoy working with various different groups, but I especially enjoy children. Working with children can be very challenging, but has more rewards than anything else I have ever done. I have learned a lot from it, particularly how to conduct my therapy professionally while still maintaining a fun and collaborative environment.

ePortfolio Purpose and Content

This portfolio was developed in order to display my assignments from the past semester in English 470. It showcases my correspondence letters, brochure, press release, and formal report that I created throughout the semester, either individually or in a collaborative group. These assignments have all been tied to our course outcomes, which are listed below. I have accomplished each one of these outcomes in some way, all through the assignments completed in this class or through class discussion. I will continue to work on them for the rest of my professional experiences, as they are all valuable in any business setting. These activities have grown my professional writing abilities tremendously and have given me the confidence that I am able to properly use business writing.
