Professional Profile

My name is Maggie Santry and I am a senior Communication Sciences and Disorders major. I am set to graduate from Longwood University in December 2018. I am a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and have been on the Dean’s List throughout my career at Longwood. I have been involved with the Communication Sciences and Disorders discipline since Fall of 2016. I completed an externship at The Balance and Ear Center in Henrico, Virginia in Spring of 2018. This gave me the opportunity to learn more about the field of Audiology and observe the various aspects and procedures involved, something that interests me greatly. I plan on working for an audiologist office or something of the like for a few years and then returning to school to work toward a Doctorate in Audiology. I enjoy working with people of all ages and wish to have a career that centers around helping others live their best life.

ePortfolio Purpose and Content

The purpose of this ePortfolio is to display the assignments and projects I have completed while taking the course English 470, Professional Writing Skills, during the Fall 2018 semester. The correspondence letters were my first experience with writing professional business letters, and learning how to effectively and politely produce a document that will be well received and easily understood. Prior to this course, the majority of my writing experience centered around academic writing. The brochure was an opportunity to use more creativity and learn about the aspects of design and how they can alter the perception of your point. The press release associated with the brochure introduced me to the media aspect of professional writing. The biggest assignment, the Formal Report, taught me how to work collaboratively to create a larger document with the purpose of furthering a business’ success.
