This Portfolio contains the bulk of my work for my class ENGL 400 Advanced Writing Seminar. It consists of an intro to me and my site, 5 of my best journal entries on the textbook chapters assigned, my rhetorical analysis paper on the rap hit “Dr. Whoever” by Amine, and my group’s Common Good Project about immigrants with website and youtube video included. The knowledge and skills I gained from this class will be very useful to me in my future professional career and being a better active citizen. In terms of the rhetoric arsenal bestowed upon me by Jay Heinrichs, I feel that I can now go into any argument or discussion and come out with the desired end result. From learning how to recover from a mistake, to building an argument on a common held ideal of the audience I am fully prepared for whatever life throws at me as long as I stick to the teachings of Professor Guler and Jay Heinrichs I am more confident then ever going into arguments, discussions and even public speaking. The class I think really helped me to see that there are actually skills and techniques used in speaking rather than my previously held belief that people really just wing it in arguments and the such.
