I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, a place that is about 30 minutes from D.C.. I decided to go to Longwood University because I loved the atmosphere of the town and campus. It was a big adjustment moving from a huge place to a small town. When I got to Longwood it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do, all I knew was that I wanted to work in sports after I graduated. After being a Business Administration major, I realized that I didn’t love the classes I was taking and it just didn’t feel like a right fit. I decided to major in Communication Studies, concentrating in Public Relations and I loved the classes.
It took me a while to figure out what to do with my major and how to get involved with sports. It was not until my senior year of college that I actually figured out that I want to do Media Relations. With my knowledge of hockey, I am hoping to get to work for the NHL one day. I am now currently connecting with people that work in the sports industry and continuing to figure out how to apply what I learn in classes to help me in my journey.
