THEA 101

Issues in Theatre

This class taught me the history of theatre and how different social issues have been portrayed in modern theater. This class was definitely not what I expected but I did enjoy learning about theatre from a new perspective. Originally, I was nervous because I believed that a good amount of acting was going to be required for the class. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that the class was more about the history and technical side of theatre than the performing side.

The artifact below is a reflection of the play Translations that was performed at Longwood. In the artifact, terminology and concepts that I learned in the class are used. My personal opinion for the play itself was that it was a good drama. I personally wish that it had not ended on a cliffhanger. I would have loved to see a happier ending.
