Introduction to Policing
This class was an introduction to the policing aspect of the criminal justice system. In this class, we discussed the history of policing, concepts of policing, and issues in modern policing. What was cool is that this class was taught by a former chief of police for the Virginia State Police. I found this class interesting because it focused on an individual aspect of the criminal justice system. I liked learning about the history of policing and how our modern day police system was formed. I found the class very relevant too because modern day police are a big topic in media, so these issues were a very good topic to talk about in class. This class was not a walk in the park though. I was challenged to think in ways that I don’t normally think and pay attention to topics that I had not though about before.
Each week, we had to find an article online about policing topics and connect it to what we were learning in class. This was interesting to me because I didn’t expect to read articles in a policing class. The artifact below is one of this article reviews.
