Technology in the Classroom

Written by Kathryn Moran. Comments Off on Technology in the Classroom Posted in: Uncategorized

As technology in the world has advanced, so has the use of it in the classroom. There have been many advances in classroom technology to help enhance student learning and make it more engaging for students. Because of the broad scope that technology offers, the cost is also varying—richer school districts will have newer and better technology but even just having something as simple as a book on tape for students can be effective. While there are some slight disadvantages to using technology, it is becoming a more prominent feature in classrooms across the country. Classroom chalkboards are being replaced with SMART Boards, physical textbooks are being traded in for digital, paperless versions, and the assistive technology for students with special needs has grown significantly. Programs like TippyTalk is an assistive app that allows people with a verbal disability to communicate using pictures that can be sent as messages. Technology has also allowed for multiple types of learning to be met and even explored by other students. Using technology is a beneficial and effective resource in a classroom to further a student’s overall learning. This attached graphic shows multiple ways that technology is being integrated into the modern classroom and which resources are being used.
