ART 324-50
Papermaking Honors Section
I have never been one to always enjoy creating visual art. I contribute this to the fact that I am the youngest of four kids and all three of my siblings heavily participated in the arts from young ages and excelled in it, now holding careers ranging from music, to architecture, photography, and graphic design. Art is not my niche and I was happy to just appreciate it in museums or galleries or shows or wherever I came across it.
This papermaking class was a challenge from the start, especially since it was about three other honors students with me and none of us majored in something art-related and we were with higher-level student artists. I learned a lot of patience in this course, not only because it was an entirely difference style of teaching than I am used to, but because making paper is a long and detailed process. After this class, I feel like I have a better understanding of the effort that goes into making art and that this information can help me later on in my careers in the historical field.
