This class was very different than anything I had previously taken. It was challenging to me because we were tested on listening to music and being able to match it to the location that it originated. As a biology major, this was something I was not used to, so I definitely had to adapt.
One thing I learned from this class was to take advantage of a professors office hours/availability to talk or reach out to them. I was able to excel so much better in the class after a quick email or talk and that was responsible for my success. I have used this in my future classes and it’s really helped me to succeed. Not being afraid to reach out to a professor, especially when struggling, can be a lifesaver.
For this class’s artifact, I have chosen one of our online assignments where we had to describe aspects of different world music. I think this effectively underscores how I was eventually able to pull sections from music and describe them in order to successfully recognize them during an exam.
