Principles of Sociology was an interesting Honors course to take part in, because the course itself was linked to Statistical Decision Making. Due to this linked course the class section was a regular Longwood University course, however, HONS 295 was were the Honors level course requirements kicked in. More information about HONS 295 can be found under its own tab. SOC-101 aimed to inform students about the relationships between individuals and the society in which they live in. Within the course, discussions pertaining to family, religion, marriage, gender roles, etc. provided me with a profound insight into rather controversial topics within society today. This insight enabled me to view situations far more objectively and allowed me to analyze situations among individuals and society. This objective perspective also aids my development through my higher education because in Nursing it is vital to distinguish objective and subjective information.
