Freudian Themes In Fairytales has by far been my most favorite honors class I have taken. This class met for two hours every Monday night. This class was based around the perspective of Bettelheim and his book “Uses of Enchantment”. There were less than ten people in the class, which I greatly enjoyed. Each class we sat in a circle and discussed Fairy tales and their underlying meanings and effects on child development. I enjoyed this class as the small size made it feel intimate and the professors were engaged and passionate about literature. The time I spent in this class was a much needed break from my other classes and responsibilities. I liked listening to my class mates various perspectives of fairytales, which coincided with their respective majors. This class has allowed me to look at modern day fictional literature and movies in a more analytical way and for that I am greatly appreciative.
