Global Citizenship Pillar – Beginning Language & Culture
After taking the minimum of three years of Spanish in high school to get my advance diploma, I thought that Spanish was behind me. Little did I know that Longwood required two semesters of a language. So here I was again taking a Spanish class and hating it. Only that didn’t completely happen. This Spanish class was unlike any Spanish class that I have taken before and that was all due to Profesora Sanchez. She made class engaging and extremely fun. Soon I was getting A’s and B’s and even volunteering in class, something that never happened in high school.
One project that we did in class was a brochure for the town of Madrid in Spain. My partner and I researched different festivals, places, and cultural landmarks of Madrid.
