After my fist year at Longwood, I have received a 3.632 GPA! I have worked hard and faced many challenges and obstacles along the way as I have adjected and adopted to life at college. One of my favorite and most challenging class my first year has been ANTH 495 – Medical Anthropology. This class had countless papers week after week, sometimes I didn’t know if I could make it. My favorite project/paper was on illness narratives. I interview two people on an illness that they had and how they interact and interpreted their illness in society. This paper was the first time that I have ever done human subject research and I had to get certified before conducting the interviews. I also had to get consent forms from each subject and then interviewed them for about 20 mins each. This was my first experience practicing real anthropology and the skilled that I learned in this study I will continue to use throughout the rest of my career in Anthropology.
