Bio

I grew up near Washington, D.C. and have experienced the high-paced life of living near a city. Deciding to attend Longwood University and being in a small town was not an easy decision, but it has ended up being the best decision I have made for my future. I chose Communication Studies because I had done journalism in high school and completely fell in love with telling peoples’ stories and capturing images that aid in storytelling. I chose to add on a photography minor because photojournalism is my favorite style of writing and I love taking photos to accompany stories. Since being at Longwood, I have been able to intern at a school doing social media and marketing, completed my capstone course and made a documentary, helped club tennis grow and become vice president of it, joined the photography association, become very involved in a ministry and starting leading a small group, joined an honor fraternity in which I am the historian and got the opportunity to go to Phoenix this summer as a delegate to attend national convention.

I am passionate about working with people and alongside people, helping others and providing advice and guidance. I receive joy from seeing others grasp concepts that they may have struggled with and I am energetic about finding what gives me fulfillment. I have valued being a Sunday school teacher because it has challenged me and helped me grow alongside the children I taught. I have also valued being a camp counselor and teacher’s assistant because I have gained practical skills and seen firsthand what a career in teaching might be like. Lastly, my internship gave me a great deal of perspective and I enjoyed having diverse tasks to complete and the fast-paced school environment I was in.  I am interested in pursuing a career in social media marketing or journalism and hope to one day attend graduate school for my intended field of employment. My long-term goal is to inspire individuals and impact as many lives as I can.
