In the research done in Biology 251-Introduction to Ecology and Evolution, my partners and I were able to study species richness of phytoplankton in a pond close the the university. I remember being excited do study something I would not have studied on my own as my interest lies with the medicine side of Biology. We were first tasked with coming up with a hypothesis and figuring out what we wanted to study. We decided we wanted to see how sunlight affects the number of phytoplankton and thought sunlight would increase the amount of phytoplankton.

I had never done a research proposal for a project before and was nervous to present one, but quickly came to realize how easy it was. We quickly put together a PowerPoint presentation and presented to the class. Through this, I was able to collaborate with my group in order to present a solid presentation to our peers in a way they would understand effectively.
