Reflection:
For this project, my group members and I were expected to advocate for the importance of university campus recycling. We chose this public issue because we as students noticed that there was a lack of recycling participation on campuses. Our mission was to motivate and educate campuses and communities on ways to reduce waste in our environment. As a group we decided to use the three Aristotelean appeals throughout our brochure and website. Our credible sources were considered ethos, our benefits page was considered pathos, and recognizing that our planet is slowly deteriorating was our example of logos. The main audience for the common good project was college students, faculty, and staff. The biggest issue that our group faced was encouraging participation. In our presentation, we included pictures of recycling bins around campus. One picture that really got our audience thinking was a picture of a recycling bin that was covered in dust. I believe that this picture made our presentation about the lack of recycling on campus more real, because the audience saw the issue first hand.
