MISC.

I want to be a Health and Physical Education major because I wanted to find a good medium between teaching and health. Also, even though growing up I was never able to do every sport or activity especially in PE class, I always had the BEST PE teachers; most of which I still talk to today. It is amazing that they still love and remember me after all of these years and always encouraged me and supported me to try my best all the time. My biggest passion too is working with kids, but I didn’t want to do it how my parents do it in a classroom setting. Plus, I wanted to teach health-related things, not how to solve a math problem or teach about ancient Egypt. I came into Longwood as a Kinesiology major because I was unsure of what department of health I wanted to do. Since both of my parents are teachers, my dad especially showed me the HPE department and how it seemed to fit me. I was hesitant, but after taking my first health class with Mike Mucedola, I fell instantly in love and quickly changed my major to HPE. I can honestly say it has been the best choice I’ve made because of how small our department is and how caring our professors are. They are all so willing to help us in any way we need to, while still making sure we are on track and know how to assess. My peers in my major are like my second family and we all get along with each other so well. I’m so happy I picked Longwood for my school, but even happier that I picked HPE for my major!
