One of the best parts of attending Longwood University and the Honors College is how much this school focuses on broadening the student’s horizons. Never in my college career would I have expected to take a world music class, but here we are. Going into this class, I was not confident that I would enjoy it, but I actually really did, and learned a lot throughout it. I learned so much about cultures all across the world, and because this was a difficult course and I am not very knowledgeable about music I learned a great deal about study habits and how to persevere through learning about a completely new subject. I took away more from this course than many others, and I am very appreciative of the experience.
One of the most interesting things about this course was that our final paper was about a type of music that we did not cover in class. I enjoy these types of assignments because I get to choose something I am interested in and learn about it, which in turn helped hone my research skills. Because I enjoyed this assignment so much, the assignment I would like to display is this paper.
