I have always played guitar, but never ukulele. One of my friends took this class and enjoyed it, and I wanted to try it out myself. Dr. Secoy was a great professor and I liked playing ukulele along with her and the rest of the class. A couple other students and I were so good at playing, Dr. Secoy showed all of us where to find music and videos for more opportunities to learn outside of class. I had a lot of fun and always looked forward to class. The final consisted of singing and strumming to any song of my choice, and I chose to play Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra. Everyone enjoyed the performance. I am glad I took beginning ukulele because I learned how to sing and play music on an instrument at the same time, something I always wanted to do but didn’t know how. This class turned that dream into reality.

That was the Fly Me to the Moon tutorial I used for my final. I learned how to conjoin all the parts of the song and play everything together. It was difficult to sing and play simultaneously, but I now know how to apply this skill when playing guitar, something I’ve always wanted to do.
