One of the most remarkable things about Longwood and Farmville is the sense of community. I chose to come to Longwood after attending Virginia Girls State the summer before my senior year of high school, and truly feeling at home on Longwood’s campus. Ever since coming to Longwood I have felt a deep sense of community both on campus and off. One of my most notable memories was my first week of freshman year, and I went to the Farmville Wal-Mart by myself. I was completely disoriented and had to ask one of the “locals” for help finding something. The older woman was happy to help and said, “I’ve got you, baby”. Most interactions that I have had with people from the Longwood and Farmville communities has had similar, heartfelt kindness. I feel honored to be apart of this community.
