Biography

Hello, my name is Lindsey Hottinger and I am a rising senior at Longwood University. I am a student of the Cormier Honors College and the College of Business and Economics. My major is Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and I have a minor in the Technical Production of Theatre. After graduating from Longwood next spring, I will either be attending graduate school or pursuing the start of my own business.

Like many students, my college plan changed slightly as I narrowed down my interests and life goals. In the beginning, I was more concerned with financial success than serving my life’s purpose. I realized I was wrong to ignore my purpose, passions, and strengths. The first change I realized I wanted to make was adding a minor in Technical Theatre. This minor has a focus on design that has melded beautifully with my interests in Marketing, while also supporting my interests in theatre. The second change I made was switching my concentration from Real Estate to Marketing. Marketing has allowed me to express creativity, and I have enjoyed my classes much more. I plan to use the skills I have learned through my Business and Marketing classes in order to run and promote my own business one day.

Service has always been an important part of my life . I was given the opportunity to participate in service on Longwood’s campus and in the Farmville community when I joined Alpha Phi Omega my freshman year. Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed service organization affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. We are guided by the key principles of leadership, friendship, and service. This organization has helped me find new ways to give back to the college, community, and nation, even in the midst of a pandemic. I am honored to be a part of something that has helped so many people, but it has also helped me grow tremendously as a person and as a leader.
