I took this class in the fall semester of 2019. I chose to take this class because my father is Puerto Rican and he speaks fluent Spanish and I thought it would be interesting to learn more about the country of Spain. I really liked this class because not only did I learn about the history of Spain, but I also learned about the different places, art, and people that originated there.
We had to do a 5 minute presentation on an art, place, or person from Spain. I chose to do the Inmaculada by Alonso Cano which is also seen as the Virgin Mary. I had never heard of it before but after the research I did, I learned about not only the sculpture but also what the colors and people meant, and history about the artist who made the Inmaculada. I found everything that I learned in this class very fascinating. I never really liked history in high school because of all of the information that we had to remember but this class’ information was more focused on one subject and it made it easier to understand.
