I took this class in the fall semester of 2019. This was the first art class that I have taken at Longwood. I used to love my art classes in middle and high school and I am still very close to my middle school art teach to this day. This course taught me that things definitely take time. I spent hours outside of the actual class time to work on projects.
I really enjoyed this class and it was interesting that even though you’re just making cups or bowls, there is a lot of technique and time that goes into it. For our final project, we had the choice of making whatever we wanted using the knowledge that we learned throughout the semester and the different projects that we did. We did cylinders, cups, bowls, sculptures, vases, etc. I chose to make a sculpture for my final project and I based it off of other artists sculptures and I showed this in the power point I made for my final proposal. The sculpture shows the balance between land and the ocean. It has many elements from both worlds like animals and plants. The artwork shows how we live on a planet that has two different sides to it and it just gives an insight to what we perceive as everyday life.
