Reading this article made me cringe. I just don’t understand how it’s okay to do “cut” a little girl like that. What’s the main point behind it? According to the World Health Organization website, it says that there are no benefits, only harm. If this is the case, then why is it still continuing? It even says that it is recognized as a violation of human rights. What’s even more disturbing is that it says that it can be done to infants or up to girls who are only 15 years old. It also says on the website that this practice is “considered a necessary part of raising a girl properly, and a way to prepare her for adulthood and marriage.” I’m not sure I understand how cutting a young girl’s genitals and causing her great pain and suffering is preparing her for adulthood. I think it’s incredible that David Cameron is trying to help stop this horrible act from continuing. I hope this is successful so it can save young women’s lives across the world.
