Goal 11: Physical Activity

This class was very enjoyable, yet it required a lot of thorough work to be done in and out of class. The class only met once a week, but at each of these meetings a number of exercises had to be completed and one of the instructors had to check off that you were in class and on task. The exercises needed to be done in a proper manner as any of them could appear at the end of the semester during the final exam, so you could not simply slack off. Also, there was work to be done outside of class that required extensive attention, like weekly step count reports and weekly lab reports, and these needed to be done with proper care to ensure success in the class.

The instructors were all very nice and willing to work with anyone during a weekly meeting or through email to answer any questions a person had on how to do an exercise or format a certain report. I really appreciate that they were so willing to communicate with the students as I had to ask how to do certain exercises more than once and how to do certain online assignments. The guidance I received helped me to succeed in the class and live a healthier lifestyle by exercising more and just being more active overall.

The artifact I chose for this class was a PowerPoint I did on the topic of mindless eating. I had to formulate an experiment that examined food choices of students on campus and analyze what could lead students to choose the foods they eat. I enjoyed designing the project as I got to do whatever experiment I wanted that pertained to the topic in some way, so I chose my favorite meal of dessert for analysis to look at why certain foods are chosen over other healthier alternatives.
