Digital Editing:While taking this class, I was introduced to working with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and I was taught how to work different camera equipment such as the Canon XF300. During the class, I produced a video on Longwood Women’s Lacrosse team, and creating a news package that included a stand up.
Advanced Media Writing: Throughout this course, I was challenged to produce different styles of writing such as news, feature, op-ed, and investigative journalism. I further advanced my skill with Associated Press Style writing throughout this class. The course enhanced my interviewing skills along with being more confident in my writing as well.
Media Production: This was an advanced version of Digital Editing. While using the skills I previously learned, I also learned to use the broadcast studio that my university has, as well working with the JVC GY LS300 4K camera. Working in the broadcast studio helped me practice my public speaking as well as all of my technical skills in the tech booth. In the booth, I was able to work with my classmates to create and produce entire news packages.
Persuasion Theory: This class was an elective course for my major. I choose to take this class in order to increase my skill in crisis management and my all around people skills. Some of the assignments we worked on were creating a hypothetical public relations action plan for a major company of our choice. This assignment was a semester long process, and really enforced my understanding of crisis management.
