This was one of my favorite courses from my Fall 2020 semester. We met on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-9:15AM. We read an amazing variety of awesome works and books including “From #blacklivesmatter to Black Liberation,” “Silent Spring,” and “Fossil Capital” which tackled huge issues facing our generation and the world. Dr. Nez’s commentary made the class exciting, and his enthusiasm for the material and day to day topics made me want to attend class even more. For a sample of work from this course, I have provided a copy of my assignment “Letter to the Editor” where we were to write a letter to the author of a document, website, newspaper, etc. on a subject about which we felt strongly. I chose to write to Congress on their congressional apology for slavery.
