This was my second class taken with Dr. Blincoe for Honors Credit. I quite enjoy his classes, and the philosophical discussions we have during them, they’re really thought provoking. I felt a little bit intimidated with this class from the beginning simply because of the name, which was “Biomedical Ethics,” and the fact that it was a 300 level class, I wasn’t too sure if I was actually able to take the class, or if I needed to have any prerequisite courses beforehand. Before we talked about the real biomedical ethics issues for the course, we went over some basics of philosophy so that we were able to have better, more educated conversations. Afterwards, we talked about abortion, paternalism, physician assisted suicide and human enhancement. We didn’t write any papers for this course aside from my course notes, and we took only 1 actual in class test. This class covered an honors course credit and Goal 12 for me.
