Letter to my Senior Self

Dear Senior Self,

After four years, Longwood will not only be the University you attended, but the place you called your second home.  You will walk down the side walk, and look to buildings like Wheeler Dorm, Ruffner Hall, and the Greenwood Library and be amazed at the amount  of memories from the past four years.  However, you will mostly value the people who have helped you create those memories.  Whether faculty, acquittances, or your best friends, they have all played a big role in helping you transform into the person you are today.

Today, you are a positive contributor to the community you have grown to love at Longwood University.  It has given you opportunity, leadership skills, and knowledge that you can spread to other communities that you will come into contact with.  Whether it is in your classroom, where as a teacher you are guiding your students to realize their full potential and giving them the opportunity  to lead.  It may be in the athletic community, working as a coach to develop athletes, and promoting teamwork and unity.

As you go out into the world there will be different challenges, some you will be successful and others you may feel as if you fail.  However, growth can only happen by facing challenges, and you can never fail if you remember to view failure not as a mistake, but as a lesson.  You have already faced challenges in college, and probably learned a plethora of lessons, but they have all contributed to your success and growth. In addition, you have grown in other ways.  I hope you have continued to help serve the Longwood community, and take the initiative to continue service to the community that you reside in after college.

Now that you have come this far in your educational career, and look forward to the future, remember to appreciate your past and let it continue to inspire you.  Remember your high school teachers who helped you prepare for college.  Appreciate coaches that always reminded you that you are stronger then you know.  Acknowledge that amazing professors that have helped you explore abstract and critical thinking.  Never forget, that your success is mostly because of the two biggest cheerleaders you had at home, that you call Mom and Dad.

Success and fulfillment are always in reach if you go out into the world with an open mind, a brave heart, and humbleness.

Take the world by storm.
Sincerely,

Freshman Molly
