To accomplish Goal 4, I took Music Appreciation. This class moved throughout history, explaining the music type for each time period, and the effects of historical events on music. It was interesting to see how the history of each time period had a direct reflection on the music produced, and how each time period set the stage for the next, all building on one another. Being a Chemistry major, it was interesting to be able to take a class in the music department, and use a different type of learning. In this class we had to attend two concerts, and write a reflection on one of these concerts. After attending an opera concert, I wrote the paper below. Being forced to analyze this concert was an enlightening experience, as I never would have attended the concert, nor thought about the concert in so much detail without it being a class requirement.
