Service

Service, to me, is a bit more subtle than what most believe. Service is helping others in anyway you can, whether it’s paying someone a compliment, or helping with homework. With that being said, in my first year at Longwood I did not become an official member of any service group. I would do little things. If I saw trash on the ground, I would pick it up and throw it away or recycle it. If someone needed help preparing for a test, I would do my best to help. When I would go to LP events with my friends, sometimes we would get there too early and help set up, or stay late and help tear down. This isn’t to say that those who have gone on trips to build churches aren’t serving a community. What I’m trying to say is that service is more than the big. It is often the small and unnoticed.
